Overview
Sikkim is a small, mountainous state in Northeastern India, bordered by Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and West Bengal. Its capital is Gangtok, and it lies in the Eastern Himalayas, home to Kangchenjunga, the world’s third-highest peak. Sikkim’s culture is a harmonious blend of Lepcha, Bhutia, and Nepali traditions, deeply influenced by Buddhism and Hinduism. It is known for vibrant festivals like Losar and Pang Lhabsol, rich art forms such as thangka paintings and handicrafts, and a cuisine inspired by Tibetan and Nepali flavors, with an emphasis on organic produce.
Sikkimese cuisine is a mix of Nepali, Tibetan, and Bhutia influences, featuring simple, flavourful, and mostly organic dishes. Popular foods include momo (dumplings), thukpa (noodle soup), gundruk (fermented leafy greens), phagshapa (pork with radish), and sel roti (rice bread). Fermented foods and local herbs are common, reflecting the state’s eco-friendly and organic lifestyle.
In our tour we will explore Gangtok , Peiling and Namchi.
